When VYANA vata gets aggravated, the first type of joint pain can occur. In AYURVEDA bones and joints are considered a site of vata in the body meaning that they have a general affinity for vata, and are particularly prone to vata imbalances. The joints are deeply affected by the quality of bone tissue (asthi dhatu) but in Ayurveda the joints also shares an important connection with the nervous tissue ( majja dhatu). Healthy Joints are lubricated by a fatty substance known in Ayurveda as SHLESHAKA KAPHA(a substance of kapha) which links the joints to the health of MEDA DHATU. In Ayurveda it is said that strong agni and proper digestion are essential to our overall health.
CAUSES OF JOINT PAIN
1. When AGNI becomes impaired-usually as a result of an excess of vata, pitta or kapha in the digestive track. Impaired agni leads to the formation of ama.
2. With AGNI compromises, the ama is able to leave the digestive track looking for a weak space to occupy the body. If agni in the bone and joint tissue is at all compromised the ama can enter those tissues and create all kind of disturbances.
3. Weak muscle strength - Muscles becomes weak and lose their ability to function properly.
4. Obesity - Obesity leads to many diseases in the body. Due to over weight they directly affect the working of the joints and creates problem in their functioning.
